Uppster Mar 29th, 04, 10:48 PM Hey Storm, just bought one from my local Chevy dealer, they make several for the 70, but my parts guy ordered in the right one from St Louis. Worked for me. Edd
storm Mar 30th, 04, 8:11 PM upperster any part # i called my local gm dealer he need more info he said if he looks up 70 chevelle it come up with what i got thanks.
bulb122 Mar 30th, 04, 8:49 PM I had the same problem on my 68. I ended up buying a big block "hi-perf." throttle cable bracket. It accepts the round end throttle cables, and fits a holley baseplate under the rear bolt.
storm Mar 30th, 04, 9:23 PM i got the holly throttle bracket but its still to short and i need a square end any chance you send me a picture of your set up?
storm Mar 30th, 04, 9:25 PM you bought it for a big block will it work on a 350?
bulb122 Mar 30th, 04, 9:57 PM I got a new cable (i think a small block one) that had the round end. Most aftermarket brackets use the square end. I got a repro of the factory bracket for a BB with a holley carb. It will use the round ended throttle cable and bolt to a holley carb, even on a small block. I've got a 350 with a Holley 650dp and it works for me smile.gif
I have a couple pics that might help, let me know if you want them, I have no way to post them.

bulb122 Mar 31st, 04, 8:33 AM I sent you 2 emails....you didn't get them? If not I'll have to resend them tonight
storm Mar 31st, 04, 5:39 PM bulb 122 yes i got them thanks that looks like the bracket that will work i just called my engine guy the one who sold me the throttle cable bracket the first time he said to buy a big block cable it will bolt right on i called my gm dealer he said about 25 bucks. was your car an original 350?? just want to see if the cable lenght would be diffrent from a 307 thats what i had. how does your cable line up? is it right on?? thanks storm
bulb122 Mar 31st, 04, 8:53 PM No, my car originally had a 307 as well. It had a 350 when I bought it, adn the previous owner had the same problem as you, with the round cable and square bracket. The round cable end was all smashed up and zip tied and duct taped to the square hole bracket.
I got a new round end cable, and the BBw/holley bracket you saw in the pics. Did you get the link to where to buy it?
So, you have the round ended cable already? If so, all you'll need is the bracket, and it should fit just fine.

storm Mar 31st, 04, 9:28 PM bulb 122 yes i got the link where to buy it it looks like the one but i just realized that my holly bracket with the square type fitting it has the space for the transmission kick down cable?? 700r4 but the engine guy said go to gm dealer and buy a cable for a chevelle big block it will work. what do you think?? yearone have the bracket with the space for the transmission cable?? storm
bulb122 Mar 31st, 04, 9:53 PM Sounds like you'll have to do a little more tial an error. I can't help with the auto-trans kickdown, sorry. I have a manual, and I never even thought about that.
If you wanted to get a square ended cable to fit your square bracket, it might be possible, but I don't know for sure. I never tried it. If you go to the dealer, they should be able to show you pictures or tell you if the cable has a square or round end. Good luck man! smile.gif

plain 69 Apr 1st, 04, 1:20 AM For people that don't know there are 4 different cables for the accelerators for the 69-72.
2 BARREL SMALL BLOCKS: Not long enough.
4 BARREL SMALL BLOCKS: Which carb you are going to use. Q-jet or Holley Bracket.
Q-JET Big Block: Has to use the Q-jet Bracket
Holley Big Block: Has to use the Holley Bracket
Hope this helped some. I am not sure which setup the 68 had but they should work on a 68.
storm Apr 1st, 04, 8:37 PM plain 69 good info i m using a 600 holly with a holly bracket with the tran cable its a 350 i was told use a big block cable that had a holly i just order one today he couldnt tell me if it was a round end or a square end i hope i got the correct one coming.
plain 69 Apr 2nd, 04, 6:15 PM More than likely it will be the round type. If I am not mistaken there was a bracket for the trans that bolts to the intake manifold.
