Anyone else run into this problem?

Could a broken driver's side motor mount be the cause?

Good possibility that the motor mount could cause your problem. I have Hedmans on my 67 Elky w/SBC and have no clearance issues at all.

Seems to have shifted - after running a little there's about 1/32" clearance at the shaft and it looks like it's hitting near the rear UCA bushing. We'll try new mounts, and if that doesn't work try a grinder or a hammer.

Various sizes of hammers are an indispensible part of my tool box. smile.gif

I order a pair of hedmans for my 65. They did hit the steering shaft, but only at certain parts in the rotation of the wheel, but it eventually stopped becuase I think all the grime from the shaft just wore off.
