44 years old and sure miss the days of 96 octane leaded supreme @ 45 cents a gallon.You could run over 11 to 1 comp with ease on that stuff.I remember when gas got to 50 cents a gallon and I almost took the 097 Duntov out of the engine because I couldnt afford the gas.I thought 50 cents was outragous at the time... circa 1973 or there abouts.

About 3 years ago I decided to enter into a mid-life crisis. I dragged a 70 Chevelle home that had been sitting on a farm for good while. Everyone thought I had gone mad. Now that it's coming back together folks are beginning to drool. Turning the big 5-0 later this year.

forth car was 1968 cutlass - 350 - parents made me sell
fifth car was 94 cavilier - 2.2l 5 speed - curantly auto cross with this one and can beet a v8 mustang!!
six up is a 1984 fiero - curently being choped up
seven is a 1985 fiero - needs frontend parts, but fun car
and number eight is my 66 Chevelle 300 with a 400+ hp v8 soon to be on the road.

So far there have been 145 replys to this post out of 11,947 members.

Trying to make us feel guilty eh? I was born in December 1961 and came home from the hospital in a 1961 Biscayne (that would make me 41). That got traded for a '66 Biscayne, then a 1970 Biscayne (I learned how to drive on that one). All had 3-in-the-tree shifting and radio block-off plates. Dad's last Chevy was a POS 1974 Biscayne (only automatic he's ever owned). He currently owns the last 5-speed manual Aerostar registered new in Ontario, Canada (it's a '94). The service manager at the dealer had never seen one.
I've owned my Chevelle since 1985 (half it's life); the previous owner was my late aunt who bought it new. I have not gotten rid of any vehicles I've purchased since 1981 except for a thirsty '77 Olds 98 with a 403 (too bad I wasn't born earlier).

I'm 32, born February 1, 1971. Louisville KY is where I was born, and after I retire from the Marine Corps, I will be returning to KY. Plus it's closer to where the Chevelle-a-brations are held.

My father had Mercurys, brother had a 58 Vette, in fact he took me on a ride one cold fall night but wouldn't tell me were we were going until we pulled into a local Chevy dealer and I got to sit in a 63 Stingray on the show room floor!! I get chills just thinking about it, 40 years later. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
