I'm in a bit of a dilemma, and thought I'd ask here figuring at least a few people here either have or have researched collector car insurance.
I'm currently looking into purchasing a 1989 Turbo Trans Am. The car is 1 of 15 made with the cloth/hardtop combo, and has 2510 miles. It is like new, and it's the rarest combo with the cloth/hardtop. I am looking to get collector car insurance on it as I don't plan on driving it too often and don't want to pay the rather high rates my standard insurance carrier wants to insure it with an appraised value of $30,000, comp and collision.
I have a '65 Corvette 396/425 roadster with collector car insurance through Condin and Skelly, but they will only insure cars 20 years and older, so they won't touch the TTA. After some phone calls, it seems the only collector car insurance company that doesn't have any issues with insuring the TTA is Grundy Worldwide. Does anyone have their cars insured via Grundy or have dealt with them? I do like Grundy's unlimited mileage (compared to 2500 a year for Condin and Skelly), and I also like their quote of $390 a year for comp/collision with a $30,000 appraised value.
Any thoughts on Grundy, or is there another outfit I should contact?
My rates will probably be higher that some of you... while I have no tickets or accidents, I am single and only 23. (the perfect recipe for high rates, eh?)
