I'm 43 yrs old, married, Union Steamfitter, have 3 kids, 2 boys (12 & 9) and a girl ( 5 ). I have a 65 Chevelle SS and a 69 Camaro RS. Chevelle runs (283, 2 sp powerglide) the Camaro, almost (350, 4-sp Saginaw). Don't know a lot but am learning. Most guys forgot more than I know but I ask questions and try to do the work myself (w/ help of course). My boys already have which car they want when they get older. 12 yr old wants the Camaro and the 9 yr old wants the Chevelle. Hopefully they won't be into imports.

33 years old. Developer in Northern NY building homes for the military. I went to the Syracuse Nationals in 2001 and fell in love with the 66 chevelle. That was the first time I had been to a car show of that size. Well, I now have a 66 SS in the garage and I'm getting ready to start a frame off resto. Really liking the pro touring cars and will probably look to steer the restoration in that direction. I'm hoping to tap into the expertise that all the members of this site have. I've been spending quite a bit of time checking out some of the threads and info on the site, and just joined today.

Almost 50  I am what the profession calls an ETL Analyst, but my company refuses to give me the title because of the huge pay increase I should make. Basically I connect to all our environments (Mainframe, AS/400, Windoze servers, Linux servers, network drives, etc.), and collect all the data for upper management. I then convert all this data into database tables so our reporting people can create all the pretty reports. Guess who gets the credit for creating the final results?? Not me, but I love doing what I do even though there is very little appreciation.

I'm 39, a recording artist and musician in Nashville, TN.
I have 5 kids, 4 horses... and 2 Chevelles left! I had to sell all my Vette's and Chevelle's to cover the life I live.

I quit the music biz in 2000, went to work for Microsoft in Redmond WA, did that for 5 years, got used to the money, but it was silently killing me. So I moved back to Nashville and have been touring with several "stars".

Do a google search for Forrest Lee Jr and you'll know the rest of the story.

I have been frequenting Chevelles.com for years, and just realized I wasn't a member tonight!
I've been the proud owner of 26 Chevelles since I was 18, hated selling every one, but I am a musician... and I have 5 kids...

This is kinda cool. There's a lot of diversity here: age, background, etc. Young, old- all for love of Chevelles! That why this is the best dam car site on the internet!

I'm 33, a twin (Jason owns a 81TA w/ 455), single, work in sales and marketing, mostly a writer. Started my own company a few years ago: T Rex Productions. Do mostly contracting sales and marketing, but cars are where I've found most of my work. I'd love to be a full time writer- I'm a screenwriter. (Pioneered the only 4 year Bachelors degree here.) My bro & I still work in film occasionally- but it's too hard for consistent income, especailly in MN.

Our "real" income was selling classic car parts, restoring cars. That is, untill the last year and a half got real "tight"- people just aren't buying like they used to. Really don't make much money- enough to pay rent, that's about it.

Still, I sold many cars over the years. Proud to say most were daily drivers until a few years ago. I'm even an international seller- my 68 Super Bee clone went to Sweden.

I am 41, Married with 3 kids, 2 dogs. I own a powder coating shop in MI. Started loving muscle cars early in life. My dad was a big GM fan and helped me find my first car at 15. We passed on a 64 and then a 65 GTO. I wanted a 57 chevy bad. He thought it was too old of a car to start with. I have no idea why but he suggested a Mustang! Ended up with a 65 that became a Shelby replica. Went to work at a restoration shop after "underachieving" at MSU. First car I worked on was a real 70 LS6 convertible! Needless to say, the mustang is gone and I got my 70 LS5 conv. now.

I'm 51 y.o. have 3 kids...been married for 28 yrs (same woman :) ). I was a commercial driver for 20+ years. Now I'm disabled due to a major stroke I had in 2003. I lost the ability to speak and my right side was paralyzed. The worst thing left over is my aphasia (http://www.aphasia.org/) and having a hard time processing mentally; it's a real problem…so if I don't make any sense; it's just my "word salad" that scrambles my thoughts and my speech and text. So bear with me if I don't speak/type quite as good as I think i do...you'll get my jist.

I've been working on getting my 67 Malibu running and on the road. It's a hassle because alot of things I used to be able to do are a memory...but I'm getting better. I have my best friend of 16 years (ironically; he also had a brain injury in 2006...who knew, eh?) helps me a bunch...he does the work...I just help him anymore. ;)

Just wanted to say howdy y'all!

I'm 56 and a software engineer. If you want to know my professional life, just read Dilbert. It's a documentary.

Started out with GTOs in the early 70s, got into stock car racing for a few years (you do NOT want to know about the cars that we cut up and crashed there!), went through a Corvette phase then got out of the car hobby for 10 years or so. Finally got the urge again, bought a '74 Camaro and started bracket racing it. Still have that, and it still has the original 350. It's running mid-12s now, but I turned it into a strip-only car after a couple of years.

So I recently got the urge to have a rumbling V8 on the street again, and also to have a clutch pedal again. So I bought a '66 Chevelle which I am just getting into. It's little more than a shell, but it's a rust-free Arizona car. I plan on putting a big block in it, and as I plan on building it as a late 60s hot rodder might have, I'm thinking I'd like to put a 427 in it. Other than a few checkout passes to see how fast it is, I'll probably just use it as a street cruiser. There seem to be a lot of cruise nights out this way.

I'll probably have a ton of questions as I get into this project, so it looks like this forum is a good place for me.

---Dave.

Wow is this interesting....most of you guys are a LOT younger than I am and didn't grow up with these things as I did. Find that VERY interesting!! I'm 65, still working (a contractor), and have been into cars since high school. Actually sold new Chevrolet's for a couple of years just out of college in 66 and 67...may have actually sold one of your Chevelles new to somebody !!! Been into street rods a lot longer than muscle cars...recently sold a 32 Ford Roadster (nice car) to buy my current 67 Chevelle convert. Have a 40 year old son who's into collectible Vettes and a 19 year old son (second marriage) who digs the muscle cars with me.

Another older member, I guess. I'm 59, and semi-retired. Worked as a construction carpenter for 16 years, a supervisor at a medical center for 18, and am now doing maintenance part-time for some McDonald's in my area - just can't stand still! First car a '60 Rambler, but went up from there: '66 Barracuda, '68 Camaro, and a host of classic Chevys from there (see my profile.)

It's great to see so many younger guys & girls who are into Chevelles and other classics. I hope to get some questions answered, and maybe lend a little experience of my own.

45, married, (2nd time) teach at a local business college, (computers and business) 2 boys at home, one girl moved out on her own, live in central MD; from upstate NY, wife is an Air Force brat, red hair temper to match (first one was also) her father still thinks he's in command, and is. Wife is a pharmacist. 3 dashunds that own the place, luckily I have a garage to hide in.

Guess I should upgrade this.

Widowed, wife passed on 12/10/08. Miss her more than I could ever express, temper and all. Father in law passed a couple of years before her. Her mother or sisters have nothing to do with me now that she is gone. Oldest boy is a 1st Sargent in the Army, 3 tours of Iraq, two infantry battle badges. Youngest son living with his girl, just graduated from college. Not working. I lost my job in February of this year, haven't been able to find anything else, living day to day. Daughter is married, again, we'll see how long this one lasts. 2 doxies and an Aussie cattle dog eating me out of house and home. Life sucks generally.

I'm the new guy and it looks like the oldest at 63. I owned 2 different '65 Malibu SS 327/4 speed cars when I was in my early 20's and have just bought another to be a project with my "maturing" grandson of 14. It looks like I'm going to spend more all of the time to be invested on the car myself. My new ride is another '65 SS, this one with a 283 & Powerglide that I plan on replacing with the 327/Muncie combination.

Glad to be part of the family!

Well, I'm a lot older than Chevelles, coming up on the big seven-zero in a real hurry! Bought new in '65 (Impala Sport Coupe), "66 (SS 396 2-door hardtop) ,'67 (Impala 4-door hardtop), later a'67 Corvette air coupe. Sold the 'Vette in April 1967 when our first child arrived. Had at least 3 more '66-'67 SS Chevelles over the years. Now own one finished '66 ss, live on your contributions to social security and don't feel guilty about it, since I contributed since 1954, and still pay it on my part-time.
