I figure I might as well pad this thread some too....

I'm 25, and a Mechanical Engineer for a HVAC company. I've also got a '67 Chevelle SS396 that's been an ongoing project since before I got my license. It started and moved under it's own power (and plenty of it's own power smile.gif ) for the first time about 2 months ago. Now all I need is paint, interior, trim, and taking care of all the details.

47, married, no kids. I'm a Harley mechanic turned Software Engineer (same mindset, less grease).
I was a Camaro man turned El Camino man turned convertible Chevelle man. I'm settled in now with the ragtop. I can put the top down and still get the same scents from the trees that I use to get with the Harley. Isn't life grand.

Wow, What a thread. Spent the last 15 minutes reading them all. My turn now.

56 years young, married to the same woman for 34 years. She digs cars, trucks and flea markets/antique shops. Guess that's why she manages an antique shop.

Spent 3 yrs in military a lifetime ago. 16 months in Germany and 12 months in sunny SE Asia. Vietnam for you youngsters. US Army Engineers. Class of 69-70

Work for the Boeing Company in Wichita, Ks. as heavy equipment operator, read: Flight Line Transportation. Moving aircraft from 737, 757, 747, 767, DC 10, B-52, KC-135, Presidential Air Force 1 747 complete with DOD security check and file at Pentagon. Mobile cranes from 12 ton up to 45 ton.

Have owned mostly Chevys all my life, save one '69 Mustang Mach 1 and a '74 Dodge Charger. Currently restoring '71 Chevelle SS. Long way to go but loving it. Last project was restoring a '71 Chevy 4x4 pickup. 350, 4spd, tilt, custom seat, long bed. Received a lot of help and info from truck board similar to this one, 67-72chevytrucks.com Check it out some time.

Another project is my '57 Chevy 2dr sedan with 283, stock '57 dual four set-up, Melling Super Street Hyd. cam, M-21 4 speed, Mr. Gasket Shifter. Currently in primer but still a runner.

I am 58 years young. Married for the past 29 years, and have 2 grandchildren. I have been a police officer for the past 35 years, currently assigned to Background and Recruiting. I have a 1970 ( true SS ) with the pro tec to plate and a copy of the original bill of sale, I was fortunate to have an Atlanta built car that had 2 build sheets. One was under the back seat and the other was glued inside the driver's door panel. Chevys are my hobby and I have been lucky enough to have accumbulated several, over the years. This is the best and most helpful site I have ever seen.

33 and I am a Police Officer in Pa. My dad had quite a few Vettes and raced while testing Iskenderian Cams. My Aunt raced her Opel GT. Well the bug bit me hard.

Bought my first car - 1971 SS Chevelle (4spd) clone at age 19. Dad kept a tab on all purchases we made for the car,but ultimately he paid first -then I paid him back. That's when many years ago. Sold the car in 2001, and couldn't handle being withtout it.

So soon came #2 --1969 Chevelle Mailbu.. Wish dad was hear to see this one, he passed away November 2004. He would love it. WOT.

Now my daughter who is 8 tells me "Dad , please take the Chevy"

Money pit it was, and still is. Owned a 1995 Dodge Intrepid. Now have a '91 Jeep Cherokee as a DD. I spend hardly any money on myself. Most all of it goes to my cars/trucks.

I work at a place that manufactures showcases for various companies.

OK...I guess I'll confess too! I'm 55, a professional musician and lifetime hot rodder. Married for 35 years to the greatest wife in the world, got a great 32 year old son who is as crazy about cars as I am, a 30 year old married daughter who loves stock car racing, and a funny Beagle dog named Sissy. My car is a 1969 SS 396 Nova that I have owned since the mid 70's.

Give me a 4 speed and lots of rpm!

Aloha Everyone,

I'm 48, married my high school classmate about 4 years ago (sorry I took so long, but happy I did!). I'm the Brand Manager for a private school, used to be the Marketing Manager for the "T-brand" auto company. Got 5 step kids and 8 grandkids. The oldest grandsons learned their fractions by getting my non-metric tools for me.
Working on my 2nd Chevelle-will be a daily driver. Surrounded by 2000+ miles of ocean, rust is a problem but not a hinderance. This one might be my last one, so I want to do it the right way, my way all the way.
Being so physically distant, it is great that the internet and this website gets the "Chevelle-family" connected. I appreciate reading everyones' help.

Not much to tell...musician since I was 6, I live in the Nashville Tn area, I'm a back up musician, working in recording session work, member of the Nashville Musicians Union, etc. I work for a Country Music legend and have been working with them on the Grand Ol' Opry for 13 years. It's a dirty job, but...sombody's gotta do it!
Worst thig about being a musician is missing all the great car racing on Saturday nights because you either on the Opry, on the road, or in the studio. Thank God for Tuesday night Drags at Music City Raceway!

Hello all, I'll through my 2 bucks in ( inflation ). Im 34, my father bought me my first 69 chevelle 300 deluxe when I was 18 and have been hooked ever since. I have just recently sold my beloved first chevelle. Im married and have three beautiful kids, 2 girls and a boy. My first chevelle has been long since restored and I decided to let go of it to finance some more projects since my kids seems to really get excited when I work on my cars. I am an absolute convertible nut and have lusted afters convertibles for as long as I can remember. My father and I am restoring a 69 chevelle malibu convertible at the present and its just about completed. I have just recently aquired a 64 malibu convertible and am starting the resto on it. When im not with family or cars I spend my time working as a telephone techician. Take care all and keep adding these responses are great.

I'm 61 and retired from the National Park Service after 38 years - and a newlywed! My wife and her first husband had a 66 SS after they got married back in the day but it was stolen and stripped in Sacramento. When I indicated I wanted to get a Chevelle project she was all over that in support. Guess I should have kept looking for a 66 but the 69 is keeping me busy! Body and paint shop in August then off to the interior guru in Ada.

I used to bracket race for many years @ Lebanon Valley Dragway in upstate NY & was a several time Div. 1 Finalist. Was known as "Dan Dan the Chevy Man" when racing my '69 Nova. I don't race anymore due to my illness which has taken the sight from my left eye & caused problems with walking & balance,so I traded the Nova for the Chevelle. I am very happy to be here & love the comments I get from cruising the chevelle around town. I'm 53 yrs old and have been a gearhead my entire life. It started when I landed an after school and weekend job in a local speed shop in PA when I was 14. I worked there until I was 20.

I've built and raced cars in Stock, Super Stock, Modified Production, and Comp Eliminator over the years as well as Super Gas and E.T. Brackets.

I've lived and raced with the same outstanding woman for 29 years, no kids, 1 Husky dog.

I've been in trucking nearly as long as I've been into cars, driving since 1974 and buying my first truck in 1976.

Currently, I own a small trucking company (11 trucks) and haul metal framing and building products throughout the Texas/Southeast U.S. area. I build street/strip engines for local guys for a hobby. I still race a 9 second small block Vega in E.T. Brackets.

I hope to sell my business and retire in the next couple years and just spend all my time bracket racing and working on my various Chevy and Olds projects.

I'm a printed circuit board designer during the day and spend most evenings in what I like to call "The Mens Crisis Center" A 24/36 3 stall garage thats heated in the winter ( a necessity here in MN) and screens on the doors in summer

Im 55 now, still a PCB designer, but hopefully, only a few months from retirement. My "mens crisis center" is now a 25 X 45 pole barn, and a 67 GTO has been added to the stable(it was in the pole barn when I bought the place). It compiments my 66 SS Convert. Hell, I'll be 23 in a few months, and I'm still here!

But my answer remains the same. Still a student.

I'm a mechanical product designer for a major corporation. Married for 24 years and have two teenage kids and a house I am attempting to buy from the bank for the last 15years. I have had my 68 Chevelle for the last 26 years. Still not done and hope it never is. Too much fun monkeying with it!

I'm 42 years old, I am an automotive Technician in a new car dealership(blue oval) yeah!!! I know. The Chevelle belongs to my wife, I bought it this past summer for her as a surprise for her 40th birthday. I have a 7 year old son and a 5 year old daughter. The coolest thing is watching my kids laugh and their faces light up when my wife does burnouts with the hot rod.

I'm new to the list but a Bowtie fanatic since high school and even before. Now I am 48, married 26 years with two teenagers (son, 18 and daughter, 15), and a sole practitioner attorney for 13 years. I've built some Classic Chevys and am a huge fan of my '96 Impala SS (the end of an era for GM!), but I'm really excited about getting the '68 SS clone on the road before the snow flies here in the Reno area. So, how many lawyers do you know with grease under their fingernails? :p

30 yrs old. By day I sit in a 4x8 cubicle writing computer code, designing databases and being generally brain dead. Occationally they let me out to assist in an engineering project. By night I turn the wrench and spray primer on the Chevelle in hopes to one day drive it. Also have a 71' Camino (actually a Sprint) as a future project. 2 kids, 1 wife, 1 cat, 1 garage thats too small.

Gotta jump in here - almost 40 - aak!! Married (first and only) to a great woman who tolerats all my sh$%$! with 2 girls under 4. I'm a Storage Consultant for most of the three letter agencies. Was a professional wrench that accidentally got into computers. Currently own a BBC powered 70 Chevelle and BBC 69 Camaro. I've owned corvettes, motorcycles and boats, - then had kids. Kept the important stuff! Wife, my girls, and my Chevelle (Camaro too!) I spend my time in the garage and scouring chevelles.com \ camaros.net at night when it's quiet (no girls screaming like stuck pigs) working on them in as my wife says "manland" for therapy. I spend time taking the girls to car shows and swap meets - hoping that I'll have little cuties that are gearheads (like Liz Miles features in Hot Rod!!!!!) - they spend time helping me change oil, doing tuneups, and best of all burnouts!!!

hey there,

50 in 2 months. own a small cheese factory in Canada. Have a 69 chevelle that just wants to go faster every year for the past 5. Only advise is if you think you may wanna go really fast (you catch cold easily) put that big motor in first. It costs stupidly more doin what I did.... Changing things yearly.
Good luck and have fun with it. Rejoice. Mid life crisis? This could be your pill.

Mr. D, welcome aboard. I'm also in the auto parts business. I started in 1970, just out of school and worked for 17 years at a Parts Plus store. In 1987 I opened my own business with Carquest Auto Parts. Sold the business to Carquest Corporation in 1994 and just lease them the building now and work in customer service at the Distribution Center. I used to do a lot of bracket racing with various big block combinations and then started running Super Stock with a 69 Camaro (SS/J) 350CI. I got married, sold the racecar and restored a 67 Chevelle. Currently I have a 72 LS5 original that I probably should be restoring rather than racing. I try not to do anything that can't be reversed and prevent it from being very streetable. This forum is great. These guys really know their stuff and have helped me tremendously. I receive way more than I give here.

I build Dynamic Balancing machines for a living, and operate an industrial balancing shop.

My first Chevelle was a $225.00 '64 Camino in August of '74. Now I have 64, 65 and 66 Caminos, and 65 & 66 SS converts. I do my own restos and actually (gasp) drive the snot out of my Chevys-my '65 Camino has clocked 225K (and still wins some trophies), my '65 ragtop finally bit the dust 150K after the last resto, so it's off the frame now.

Just finishing on getting the permits for a 30x32 2 story garage, so the restoration rate may increase here in the next ew years-YAY!

62 years old, married 41 years, 2 children, 4 grandchildren. Last week I officially nicknamed my youngest grandson (2) "55 Chevy C Gasser". I will build him a plastic model of such a car this year. Maybe I can find him a T shirt somewhere that has this info on it. He saw the movie "Cars" and now thinks he is Lightning McQueen. Talk about a great start, he's only 2 and already he thinks he's a car.

Over this past years I have owned and modified a '68 and a '73 Corvette, as well as a 1970 Chevelle SS. All of these cars were sold to make way for the next one; I am now officially "in between cars".

Currently, I am looking for a second 1970 Chevelle that I can slowly modify into a mild pro touring street car. I searched all summer, but haven't found anything just yet in my region.

I live in CT and I am a CPA who specializes in schools. Many years back I was a B-52 navigator during the Viet Nam era.

Am a '53 model, married 31 years to the love of my life, living in Bentonville, AR. Have 2 children, daughter 24 living with her husband in Ames, IA (not sure I want to visit there in the wintertime) where he is attending Iowa State in a doctoral program. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelors in Chemistry. And a son, 21, who is a senior at the University of Arkansas.

Bought my '71 LS5 from a fella' in Riverside, CA who had inherited the car from his dad when he passed away. The car had been with him or his dad since it was purchased from Felix Chevrolet. Built in Van Nuys and remains mostly original. Wife was ready to kill me.....bought it sight unseen over the internet. I bought the car as a "project" for my son and I to work on when he was 12. Much cussing and discussing during those first couple of years must have made an impression because he will be getting a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the end of December.

I'm 28. I am a CCTV designer for a Security Firm. I am married to a beautiful woman who is slowly understanding the bug that my father has firmly planted in my head as "hot rods". I anticipate new challanges ahead with the rebuilding of my 65 chevelle 2 door wagon, and its 427, i think, (see welcome forum i posted). That is why i joined this forum and gained its membership. By the way, if anyone living in the southwest suburbs of the twin cities MN area knows of a good and reasonable machine shop, I"m all ears.

I'm pushin' 40, have too many projects, not enough money or time to finish every one at the moment. Work at a Caterpillar dealer, engine shop. I tune up, repair, and rebuild Cat engines in the shop, in the field, and sometimes get to travel to small islands in the Pacific to do the same. It's tough work, sometimes. ;)

I'm 36, been married for 12 years. I have 2 boys, 8 and 5. I am a part owner of a machine shop specializing in oil field drilling equipment. I am also the head cnc programmer. I also own and opperate a small company making wheels, steering wheels, and specialty items for the custom auto and bike industry. http://www.billetaccessoriesdirect.com In my spare time (my wife would laugh at that) I am building a '66 Chevelle ragtop for myself and a '55 2dr post for my dad. I also recently bought a '75 Camaro (I know, but I had a '74 in hs and loved it) which is almost finished. My daily driver is a pretty nice F-150 that gets pop shots in magazine show coverage quiet often. In about 2 weeks the '55 goes to Michigan for suspension, and after that to Texas for paint. The 'vert is undergoing major surgery at the moment to fit the air ride suspension and 20's and 22's. Once that is done it will be off to paint as well. I have an addiction, and I try to fuel it daily! Oh yeah....my name is Jason.

I'm 39, married 12 years, 2 kids (Anthony age 9, Ceci age 6), and I work for my father's company selling semiconductors and capacitors (www.tenfourltd.com and www.bdent.com)

I'm on my first restoration project, a 1970 malibu, which I plan on cloning to an SS (couldn't afford a real one, not did I want to wind up buying a fake, too hard to tell nowadays IMO)

Chasis is done along with suspension, 12 bolt rebuilt, tranny rebuilt...needs fuel/brake lines. Going to try and restore the interior myself. Will have the body work and paint done by a restoration shop near me. Also I am considering building up a nice 454 myself, we'll see what happens ;)

Hi, I am 52 divorced with two grown boys. I have a 1970 ss which I purchased in April of this year. This is my second chevelle I've owned. The first one was also a 70 ss that my first wife drove. Thats one of the reasons I bought this new one. My first wife died of breast cancer and i plan on putting her name on the license plates.

18yrs old. Attending a 2yr Technical College for an Associate degree and Auto Mechanics.. Working at a body shop currently, need one year there before i can get an Auto Body ASE cert. Might join the army after college. After the army i might go back to college, there was a 4yr college i liked in Tennessee. All throughout trade school the teachers tell you 'you can make as much as you want' but after getting into the field and talking to some techs, it looks like itd be a hard way to make an honest living. I'd like to get out of town for a while and experience a few different things before i get roped into a responsible life. :)

Hi all, I am 36 and have been an (honest) residential real estate appraiser for the past 16 yrs, I stated honest due to the fact that there are very few honest appraisers anymore, most are target or rubber stampers meaning they will get whatever value the broker needs to close the deal. This also means less work and broke most of the time but I value my integrity more than money.

I have been married for 14 yrs with two beautiful little girls Allie:6 and Adrie:4.

Have a good one:beers:

New guy here....I just posted my 68 Malibu convertible on the classifieds section.

Jimmy P: I hear you. I just turned 39 yesterday, have two girls (ages 4 and almost 8) who are experts at driving their mother crazy. The garage is only one of my escape options.....

I will leave it to you all to guess that I do (see sign-on name). When not working, I ride (mountain and road bikes), stack firewood, and take my girls for rides in the ragtop. Never imagined that I would be strapping child seats in to my chevelle....
