before taking the body off the frame, what is a good way to mark its position. Would just taking measurements to certain known ares and recording them do it? Thanks.

I didn't mark mine. I just put it back down with new body bushings and squared it on the frame. Are you sure it's square now? I can't imagine marking the position before I took it off, but I could be way off base here. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Jeff was correct. I just square the body up with the frame the best I can. When the assembly line did it they just used long dowels and lowered the car onto the bushings. The assembly manual has a procedure for aligning the body but I don't know of anyone who uses it.

when the factory placed the body on the frame if look underneath on the frame you'll see a hole that is slotted, one in front one in back opposite corners, this corrosponds with holes in the body, you take a big drift pin or even a punch and center these holes and the body should be where its supposed to be over the frame and body mounts, there maybe holes on both sides I'd have to go outside and double check but this worked for my 69 ragtop
