Hey guys..!
My 64 wagon is getting front discs, and I want to know if the later-model GM hardware will bolt up, or not. Specifically, the 80's G-body spindle/caliper/rotor assembly. Has anyone tried to use these components on their early malibus/elkys/wagons in a similar conversion?? The only info I have shows using 70's Camaro hardware, but nothing along the lines of using G body stuff..

Linc, go here: http://www.chevelles.com/techref/ftecref2.html
Wes Vann did the conversion on a 64 Wagon also so you know everything is applicable.
Good Luck!

I am wondering the same thing. I've read Wes's article. The 73-75 Chevelle brakes are as hard to find as the 68-72 stuff. I have a complete 10" set up from a 78 Regal. I have a complete 12" set up from a 70 Kingswood Estate wagon and a pair of spindles from a 77 Monte Carlo. Surely one of these will work in my 64. I've emailed several brake companies but have gotten no response, other than info on there complete kits. The 78 and up A/G body brakes are easy to come by and would seem to be a good choice for updating the older cars.

There are two things that you can do;
Call Hotchkis or Global West and ask them! If they get "****ty", just remind them that you are still going to have to buy their "kit" to do the installation.
The other thing you can do is go by a junk yard and ask them if they can cross-reference the parts in the "Hollander" interchange book.
At one point, I tried to add other cars that were applicable to the "technical reference" section and it was a major headache! I found it was best to have a "limited" number of car types listed that I knew fit and not a whole bunch of "questionables".

Thanks Wes. I'll try getting a hold of the brake companies again. I like that approach too, if they want my money let them help a little. The search is on going for the earlier years and if I ever find some I'll buy all they have and make them available in the parts section. Linc I'll pass on any info I can get.

Man, that would be great..!! The local boneyards have a few Camaros left, but I have a 1987 Buick I can pull all I need from it.. Liked the article - but like you said, it doesn't mention too many options on other models.. I will look into it as well & post anything I find..

PS..
I had bought a 74 Camaro set up for my '66 Malibu disc conversion, but recently gave the whole thing over to my youngest sibling (turning 16 in Oct.) to make room for the wagon.. Wagon needs lots of WHOA!
