Every time I wash my 69 SS, or heaven forbid, have to park it in the rain, I get water running in the right hand side vent. There must be a drain plugged somewhere. If anyone can help me locate the problem, it would be much appreciated. I can be e mailed at bcice@island.net Thanks. Terry

The plastic portion of the kick panel vent that fits thru the side of the metal opening needs to have a thick bead of caulking applied to keep water out.

As Rich (RT) stated in an earlier post on 5/5/01 under "kick panel removal", this product is available from Home Depot or electrical supply stores and is called duct putty. Cut it into strips and apply around the perimeter of the vent cowl.

This should stop any problems you may have. You may have to loosen the heater box from the firewall however to get the kick panel removed. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

Thanks Rick. Thats where I will start, but it gets so much water in there, I can hear it sloshing around. When I put my car back in the garage, it will drip for two days some where around the bottom rear of the right hand fender. There must still be something that is plugged. I have to figure this out as i live on the north end of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, and we don't sun tan up here, we rust! Ya never know when you are going to get caught out in the rain.

When you take off the kick panel, stick your hand down inside the well and clean out all the crap in there, dead mice, birds and leaves. Likely it is plugged at the bottom.
