When painting headers what do you do to keep the paint from flaking off after driving it four a while. I have painted once with eastwood header paint but only lasted a three weeks.

thanks

Ceramic coat, send them out.

Old, rusty, headers do not take easily to any kind of paint. Eastwood header paint is good quality - but will not last if the surface is time worn. If you were to sand blast the headers that would help - by the time you are sand blasting you might as well send them out for a ceramic coating.

The headers on my Elky were three shades of rust. I sent them out for ceramic coating and it is hard to believe they are the same headers.

Thomas.

How much do you think it would be to get the big block headers coated?

You are probably looking around $300 to have them coated. I think that is what Jet Hot charges.

i just used a grinder and sanded mine down realy good before spraying some stuff from walmart...some kinda high heat krylon i think, came in a orange labeled can that said it could have up to 1000 degrees or something

the stuff doesnt look like normal black paint and it has been on for about 2 years and hasnt come off, just added a new coat with the new engine just in case...I used the same stuff on my 12 bolt I put in last summer, no rust
