As I close in on the day when I fire the Big Block I've installed, I discovered that I cannot fit an oil filter, header interference. No big deal, I'll go remote. Does anyone who has installed one have a good idea on where to install it? Somewhere out of site? Thanks

Is the oil filter too long? Maybe GM, WIX, FRAM, etc., has a shorter one. I don't like remote filters. More oil is good, but a blown hose at 60 mph might empty your crankcase. If you go remote, keep it at the same height if possible, or lower. Install a low pressure kill sender.

Watch for the multiple gotchas on this deal. Most of the inexpensive adapter plates aren't real good, have restrictions in them, eliminate the bypass, too small fitting holes, etc. The pipe thread holes in the plate need to be at least 1/2" NPT, you need to use #10 lines, don't use elbows at the adapter, use the curved tube fittings. Most of the remote filters use a F*** filter that has an internal bypass, you don't want two bypasses in the system. You'll want to look carefully at the filter mount, make sure it doen't have restrictions in it. Some do.

Like Patrick mentioned, keep the filter low on the car, there is no anti-drainback valve in a Chevy, filling those big lines every time you start it can be hard on your bearings.

In general, these things can be a PITA, I'd try the short filter first.
