My car will be home this week from the paint shop. When is the best time to colorsand? Should I wait weeks or months?

Thanks

Jerry

As long as the paint used was a hardened urethane or urethane enamel, you may start immediately. Don't forget to grease the elbows :D

If it's bc/cc yes you can buff it out prety soon. I at least wait 2 days in warm weather. Heres something to think about. The paint is still curing, as yes it's still shrinking. If you can afford to wait at least 2 weeks and let it really cure a bit longer you won't always have to come back and rebuff, or sometimes sand and rebuff.
I've seen this on quit a few cars that were sanded right away. They'll still have the shine but if you look at it really close you'll see it cratering just a bit after the paint has been on it for awhile. Then again, this is all dependant on how much clear paint was applied.

Good luck

The starting point to answer your question is by obtaining the paint tech sheets from the paint manufacturer. Most data sheets that I have seen will tell you when to color sand or buff. Dupont is supposed to be hard to buff after 7 days. The web sites for each paint company have the tech sheets so you can read and print them off at home. Read them first before making any decision as to when to color sand and buff.
