: BFGOODRICH MUD TERRAIN TIRES
70chevychevelle Dec 26th, 03, 3:41 PM sorry not a chevelle question, hope you could help out any way.
are the BFGOODRICH MUD TERRAIN tires any good, not the all terrain tires?
i will be putting them on my truck for everyday driving. i work in the construction industry and do some off roading, and also we get alot of snow around here in the winter.
how are they in
snow?
rain?
tread wear if rotated every 3k miles?
any input would be appreciated
thanks guys graemlins/beers.gif
btw i do have a 70 chevelle graemlins/waving.gif
bradford Dec 26th, 03, 10:03 PM i would stay with a set of the all terrain bf's the mud terrains do not have any siping(spelling) in them, they are the small little cuts in the tread wich gives more traction on slippier surfaces. i have a set of both and take the mud terrains off in the winter. the mud terrains are great in the mud and offroad but it sounds like you will be using yours more than offroad.
70chevychevelle Dec 26th, 03, 10:20 PM wont some shops sip the tires for you for a extra charge
how do you like the all terrain tires?
they good in the snow?
Cmy70go Dec 27th, 03, 7:34 AM I agree with Bradford, I've got a set of the a/t's on my dually and they're great when they're new, but I've found once they get some miles on them ( not worn out, just used some) they tend to get a little slippery when in rain or snow. The m/t's I've got on the '78 aren't bad for pushing snow, but they really throw the stone's when going down the road, and the milage isn't what I'd like for the cost of the tires. My next set will be michelin LTX m/s
70chevychevelle Dec 27th, 03, 11:35 AM cmy70go, how many miles you got on the all terrains before they depreciated in there performance? I only put about 4,000 mile on my truck a year so the tires will probley rott out before the tread wears down  . also my truck does not weight as much as a dually so the tires should last longer ( i hope).
ZZ69chevelle Dec 27th, 03, 12:56 PM I hav both AT and MT for my truck, and switch to the MT's in the winter, but there's really no difference in wet performance, and only slightly more noise from the MT's. They work great off road too. I have about 20K on them and about 60% tread. If I could only have one or the other, I'd get the MT's But I drive at least 2 miles off road a day.
RacnJsn95 Dec 27th, 03, 5:10 PM My friend has 35/12.50 Mud Terrain tires on his 77 Ford. That thing will go ANY WHERE. On all of the 4x4 excursions I have been on with him, we have never been stuck. Mud, snow, you name it. Good times...
Cmy70go Dec 27th, 03, 6:17 PM 70, I've got about 30k on the tires now and they are shot, but we are always pulling a traier of some sort ( gooseneck horse & bumperpull car) that's the "a/t's" the old chevy's "m/t's" only got about 3k them so far so good.
70chevychevelle Dec 27th, 03, 6:57 PM hey thanks for your input on the tires, im starting to lean to the M/T cause they are only 10 more a tire and i dont put much mile on in a year.
ZZZ69CHEVELLE. had the same problem with our 01 blazer 4x4 after being in the shop 70+days GM finaly bought it back (lemon law). we bough it brand new and when they bough it back it had only about 8,000 MILES. piston slap, gate opened when it wanted, tranny slipping, tranny clunkingwhen shifting to park to drive, posi when out 2 times.
what a piece of junk graemlins/angry.gif
ZZ69chevelle Dec 27th, 03, 8:26 PM Yeah, I shoulda kept my 99. No problems like this.
