I have noticed water getting into my trunk (think it is getting in through some of the bolt holes for the emblems).

Anyway, the trunk "spatter" paint that a previous owner applied (I think it was the POR or EASTWOOD kind)started peeling up and I am getting some surface rust starting.

I am thinking of using some bed liner instead of spatter to replace the old stuff.

I am not concerned with it looking original, just putting some stuff in that will not come up and will keep it from rusting.

Anybody do this successfully? Any other suggestions? Id like something I can apply myself (no spray gun).

The spatter paint's not the problem, the previous owner neglected to clear coat the paint to protect it from water. If you want rust prevention try POR-15.com.
