Hello....! All of my fenders and bumpers and other misc. pieces for the 70 finally came in yesterday from Goodmark!!! My question is some of the pieces have light scuffing from shipping and is showing just bare, exposed metal. Since the car won't be painted for about two months should I spray some kind of primer or sealer to protect the exposed areas or are they just okay as they sit....thanks!! graemlins/beers.gif

Since we're not the experts here, we'll leave that to the TC Members who know.
Most likely, they will tell you to scuff the primer (?????) on the Goodmark items, and then some type of etching primer or epoxy primer.
When we received our '69 SS Hood a couple of years ago, we asked the same question(s), and that's what they suggested.
Hope this helps somewhat.

If the spots are small I wouldnt worry it. Seeing that you are in Vegas you pretty much dont need to worry about humidty damaging those parts. Worry it about it two months you paint the car.
Just make sure you hit those spots of bare metal when you do go to paint with something like 180 grit.
But if it really bugs you having those spots be bare metal then apply a light coat of primer from a spray bomb. Just make sure when you paint those parts that you REMOVE that spray primer
Dont apply any type of product over a spray bomb primer, remove it!!!
Also make sure you test fit those parts and tweak them NOW. Dont wait til you have them painted and find out you need to tweak the hood a tad there or the fender here...Eric

Thanks for the replies. It's like christmas over here in my garage.....I'm so excited. The frame just got glass beaded and I'm coating it with POR15 starting tonight and then I have this GIANT box with GOODMARK stamped on the side....anyway. It does bother me abit that there's exposed metal....by spray bomb do you mean spray paint/rattle can?
I'll be doing all the trial fitting and tweaking but someone else is doing the body/paint. That is just about the only part of a car I won't do. I've never done it and the fear of the unknown (when it comes to the biggest cosmetic part on the car) has a very firm grip on me ;)

Am still sticking with my first suggestion dont worry about it.
If you apply some type of spray can/bomb primer on this the shop might fail to fully remove it and now you compatiablity(sp?) problems.
Having those small little spots exposed for a few weeks or even a month just wont hurt nothing, especially down in your area.

We become "Kids In A Candy Store" and it seems only us "Car Nuts" understand why (?????)
