: I have a Cvt/El Cam frame available

I have finally uncovered the ID numbers on the frame that I have. The top line reads:
3960739S257 (the "S" is inside a circle).
The bottom line reads:
3-20S C2 XX (Again, the "S" is inside a circle).

I cannot understand the decoding of these numbers based upon the information that Dale provided in an earlier post.
I was told it came from an El Camino. It is boxed and I am attempting to get pics online tonight.
I will provide a link in a reply if I get it done.
Anyway, this frame appears to be straight and complete. It will get cut into pieces and disposed of in 1 (that's ONE) week if I get no interest. I'll consider posting it to eBay if nobody here is interested.
You can email me directly if you want more information, etc.

The following link has a few pics of the frame for anyone intersted. Please enjoy or disregard the non-frame related pics on this page also.

The VIN number of the car the frame came from is stamped on the top side of the frame by the mount that would have been under the drivers side door. That frame looks to nice to cut up, give it to some one who can store it until it finds a good home. If you were closer I would come and get it.

So is it an Elky frame or a convert frame? Elky frames are longer, no? And what year car? I am looking for a frame for my 70SS Chevelle and would consider the travel.

I'd be interested, too, but only if it's an official El Camino frame. I'd be able to come out around the 19th of this month and could pick it up. How much are you asking for it?

Dan - You have mail! If frame is 69-72 compatible, I want it, need it and will pick it up. Please see email.

I was led to believe by a knowledgeable contributor to this forum that the numbers located on the DS frame rail just forward of the rear bumper mount (as pictured in the previous link, and described in the original post) would be sufficient to identify the model and year of the frame in question.
If someone can suggest otherwise, I am certainly willing to go take another look for other identifying markings.
I never said it was for sale. I would give it to someone that can use it. IF (that's IF!) they want to make some donation to contribute towards the storage costs it has incurred, then that is entirely upto them.
I honestly hate the thought of cutting it into pieces and just want it to be put to use.

++++ I have been searhing for that original post dan and I can't find it. Probably just me. My ex says I am an idiot and am beginnning to believe her. :( I printed off the picture and went and looked at one I know is from a 69 and it looks identical. If it is, Beaux could really use it.

I initiated the original post less than 30 days ago, in this forum. Dale (with that BADA$$ orange 67 coupe) was the provider of my information.
I had initially intended on reconditioning the frame and then transferring my shell onto it. Unfortunately, it is not being stored where it can be worked on, nor is the location even mine.
I've had a few responses, but most folks seem to be missing that it is almost certainly for a 66-67 CONVERTIBLE or EL CAMINO ONLY. I'll try and find any other markings the next time I'm there, likely Friday.

Hey Dan,

Are you the same Dan Cobb that had a Porsche and was on the Porschelist (Rennlist) a few years ago ?

Tom Yes Tom, it is I.
I bought the Malibu following the demise of the 911. Since we had a child just after the accident, my wife figured that I could have a "cool car" as long as it was more "family oriented" than the Porsche was.
This isn't really that "family oriented", but it fit her requirements... automatic, back seat, convertible is a bonus!
How are things with you and the Rennlist guys?

I don't have the Pcar anymore. I had a lot of fun racing it but I like 'merican iron better.

I keep an eye on the Rennlist just to see what's happening but It's gotten to the point that it is the same guys all the time arguing over trivial crap. Doesn't even compare to this list ! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I just built a BB for my 71 that I have gotten about a 1000 miles on now after the first rebuild ate the cam.

Right now I'm in the middle of doing a white face gauge group in an SS dash. It's a lot of work but it's going to look great when I'm done.

I'll look for you at some of the So Cal events !
