im looking for a set of 70 el camino power windows, switches and wiring harness/relays. i understand they are physically different that the front window regulators for a 70 chevelle. what exactly is the difference?
thanks, dick
ps also looking for power lock and power seat setup. i have an ad posted in the wanted section but havent had very good response.
The 1968-72 El Camino power window regulators are interchangeable with the 1968 Chevelle 2 door front regulators. (Probably because they have wing windows, so a 69 2 door sedan might also work).
1969 Chevelle 2 door regulators are one year only.
1970-72 Chevelle 2 door and 70-72 Monte Carlo fully interchange.
You need to find power window wiring and regulators from a 1968-72 El Camino. The switches need to be from a 68-70. 1971-2 switch bezels are different. Dual switch on the left and single switch on the right.
The irony is that Chevy discontinued power windows on Chevelles & ElCaminos for 1971 - 1973, although the Monte Carlo still offered them. Other A-bodies used them as well, not that this post helps you...

The elcamino regulators must come from either another elcamino or 2 door sedan models. The big diference is in the lengh of the apivot arms. Note that the front door regulators from 4 door sedan models (car or wagon) will not fit the elcamino either. They are shorter. I have hade both side by side. There are views of the regulator installations (actual and drawings) for the various models in the Fisher Body Service Manual.

The 70 El Camino double power window switch and Chevelle, El Camino, Monte power lock switches are very hard to locate. The power window switches for 73 and later are the two switch units and are easy to locate as are the power lock switches. Also the power window harness from 73 and later Chevelle/Monte will fit nicely in your El Camino. Just makes it easier and less $. Another option is there is someone in California that advertises in the classifieds (OPTIONS OPTIONS OPTIONS). May have what you want.

Yup. I was surprised too! Power windows were offered '64 - '70, dropped after that then came back in '73 (oops, I said that they weren't offered in '73 but they were).

Yes,they were offered in 73. I purchased a new Black/Black 73 SS El Camino off the showroom floor and it had power windows.
