Wwalstrom Sep 19th, 03, 8:31 AM Shoot ..... I knew I shouldn't have pitched mine 14 years ago. Well, like they say, hindsight is 20/20.
blaauboer Sep 19th, 03, 8:37 AM HUH.....Mine just went to the dump over the weekend........
d1_bradley Sep 19th, 03, 10:58 AM Its all in the presentation. If you're going to run an eBay auction, that's the way to present the item.
Beenaway2long Sep 19th, 03, 1:50 PM Anyone have a red one for a 65 Malibu SS? I'll pay 10% of what the other one sold for !
Joey B Sep 19th, 03, 2:52 PM Bottom line is supply and demand. Its very difficult to find a mint condition original GM 69/70 wheel these days. (I know, I've looked for one myself) I bet none of you threw any mint ones away... 90% of these are broken, cracked, and generally junk. If someone is doing a quality resto, and doesnt want to use reproduction junk, they need this, then they'd be glad to get it for whatever price it cost. I agree the price is pretty high, but i think youre going to see these "detail" type items only increase in cost as the supply of good original GM stuff diminishes.
Jagarang Sep 19th, 03, 3:10 PM I think they say in the auction "reconditioned" which likely means fillers, paint/dye, etc etc...not NOS.
mike69ss Sep 19th, 03, 3:42 PM Jagarang has a very good point I would be very careful with reconditioned from someone I don't know -- might be great wheel and then it is worth the money -- we know it's not NOS but could be POS
Joey B Sep 19th, 03, 3:46 PM If you guys would RE-read the description, you will see that the only thing mentioned as being "reconditioned" is the shroud, meaning he repainted the silver trim that wore off in 10,000 miles. The description notes SPECIFICALLY that it has not been redone. I quote:
"There are no significant scratches, no cuts, no breaks, no armoral, no paints, no clear coats. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being mint) I rate it a 9!!"
From what i read, (and see) It is a very nice condition original wheel that had been cleaned up and had the trim repainted. The description never calls it NOS, it says its a nice original wheel, and the seller offers 100% money back guarantee if not satisfied. i don't see what the complaint is, other than he was smart enough not to throw his away, and actually clean it up and sell it to someone who needed it. tongue.gif ;)
sswannabe Sep 19th, 03, 3:50 PM Are there any companys and/or places that sell steering wheels remotely close to original?
