jrb56 May 14th, 02, 3:08 PM Not the most eloquent way - but I just hooked a cherry picker - engine hoist, whaterver to the front - had 3 buddies lifting the trunk.
Got it airborne - used 4 1200 lb sawhorses from Home Depot, with 2 4X4s byt the front of the door - and in the rear wheelwell - check out my page, maybe you can see the silliness!

normie May 15th, 02, 9:10 PM These guys are spot on for the budget minded!! However DO NOT cut out or replace sheetmetal with the body off of the frame or properly shored up on a rotisserie. Once you get it back on the frame you WILL have problems.. By your post I couldn't discern if you were going to do sheetmetal work or just cleanup, just trying to save a headache just in case! Good Luck!

Shawn May 15th, 02, 10:35 PM My body needs the mount towers cut out and replaced as well as extensive rust repair all over. Would I jack up the body to replace the towers, then put it on a rotissirie to replace the body panels or should I keep it on the frame for replacing the panels? A lot of the repairs are only accessible with the frame off (insides of rocker panels, floor pan braces near body mount area, etc).

normie May 16th, 02, 9:28 AM Small panels and non structural panels will be OK just cut and replace them quickly, I would not do quater panels, wheel housings, or floor braces/whole panels with the body off of the frame. You are running a risk of tweaking the body to a point that repairing it will be difficult!

jrb56 May 16th, 02, 2:30 PM I agree, I just had my body supported to complete frame/engine work. I will be POR15'ing the underside, then dropping the body to do body work.

Ragtop67Malibu283 May 21st, 02, 2:01 PM emmit, I was in the same situation. I just used blocks to support it when we were not working on the under body. We rolled the car on the side since I'm replacing the qtrs after we finish welding the floor brace.

sevt_chevelle May 21st, 02, 7:25 PM I highly suggest you dont replace any panel with the car on a rotisserie. Its a major problem waiting to happen. You can replace the floors with the car still on the frame it just needs to be lifted high enough in the front to remove the floor braces. Just keep in mind once you remove that stucural piece it will move or shift and shifting it back into place can be very difficult. Get all the repairs done with the car sitting on the frame, a rotisserie just doesnt have the strucual support that the body needs once you start removing parts. The body will sag in the middle since the only spots holding it up is the front and rear body mounts.
