Need help. My 65 Chevelle, 6 cylinder starts fine and until recently ran fine. Last 2 times I drove it, it started out fine, but soon started to die at corners. The only way I could get it to restart was to take the breather off. Started fine and ran fine then. Air filter is new. Any ideas? Thanks.

Fuel filter.

Check that.

Dies going around corner does sound like a maybe fuel or carb problem.

Does it start right back up or do you have to crank it over a while?
Do you have to pump the gas pedal or hold it to the floor?

Sounds like a sure fire float problem. Either the float level is low, cutting off fuel when the car "tilts" around corners (had that happen many years ago on my 57), or, the float is sticking wide open, flooding the engine. That would explain why you can start it with the air filter off. Is there a strong smell of gas after this happens? Either way, sounds as though a carb rebuild is in order. Make sure, though, that you don't have any loose wiring to the ignition coil or distributor. A loss of ignition voltage could also cause the same problem, although I would lean towards the carb.
