Talk to your machine shop first. If the block is going to be decked, I would recommend doing that first. Then using a head gasket, mask off the part of the deck that will be covered by the gasket. I cannot think of anything else that might be a problem.

The powder will withstand engine temperatures and would last a lifetime but you would need to bring the block to 400 degrees. That is going to take quite a while because of its size.
