Don_Lightfoot Aug 16th, 03, 9:43 PM As of the time of my posting it says it is sold. If anybody would know about this it would be Rick Peters (mr70) who hopefully can jump in here for you.

Were you able to get in touch with my friend through email regarding the cowl induction hood he has for sale that you were interested in? Sorry that this is off topic. Thanks.
Nathaniel
70ssl78 Aug 16th, 03, 10:06 PM I have just acquired this car and I am trying to track down the history to ensure that it is an original to the car engine.
Nathaniel, I have just purchased a cowl hood from Goodmark but thanks anyways for the help.
Thanks,
Al Barlow

northernforce Aug 17th, 03, 9:11 AM nice car Al-is it originally from Vancouver,B.C. area-anyway you may want to put the proper clear lens lights in the front bumper-you can still get them at your Gm dealer-let me know if you need the part #-I know you can still get them up here in Canada-take care Dave-keep on cruisin!!!!
70ssl78 Aug 17th, 03, 11:10 AM Dave,
According to the GM of Canada documentation, the car was sold at: Holiday Chevy Olds Ltd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. I wonder if they are still in business.
You said: "you may want to put the proper clear lens lights in the front bumper-you can still get them at your Gm dealer-let me know if you need the part #" Yes, if you can, find the number and I will order them.
Thanks for the help,
Al Barlow
northernforce Aug 17th, 03, 11:43 AM Hi Al part #5961555 is for the lenses-they should still be available-if not let me know as I have found out some parts unavaialable in the U.S. are still in warehouses up here-besides my buddy is a parts manager at my local GM dealership and doesn't mind taking the time to track down parts. As far as your car if I am not mistaken it was for sale in Vancouver B.C on ebay(I could be mistaken) a while back-take care and I always enjoy helping out -keep on cruisin-Dave.
70ssl78 Aug 17th, 03, 12:08 PM Dave,
I just noticed on a newer photo that I have of the L78 that it looks like the front lenses are now clear. What do you think?

northernforce Aug 17th, 03, 12:26 PM Yes those are correct-awsome car-that is the colour of my ragtop originally-it is white with black stripes now but when the day comes for repaint it will look like yours-hopefully some of the members in British Columbia might be able to track some info-also if you go to the GMcanada website and search for dealers it might help-take care and keep on cruisin-Dave.
cortez Aug 17th, 03, 10:09 PM whats with the chrome rocker moldings?
70ssl78 Aug 18th, 03, 6:02 AM Cortez,
I don't have a clue. There not supposed to be there?
Al Barlow
Mytmouse Aug 18th, 03, 7:33 AM Well, here we go again. The chrome rockers has been discussed before, including my inquiries about 2.5 years ago and was discussed briefly recently on the Tag Team forum http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=004670#000004 and as you can see in the picture of my 70 posted that my SS also has chrome rockers and others have indicated in the past they remember this "reality". Most SS cars propbably came without but having them on does not make the car incorrect in my opinion and and also I think it helps the aethetics some Whether they came from the factory or not will probably always be disputed and debated but I am sure the dealer would install if you requested prior to delivery. Your car looks great and the chrome rockers look great also graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Good Luck Al

our 71 is from Canada.it does not have a letter in the vin#.
i thought that Canadian made cars did not have a letter in the vin #
What does the K stand for?
Mytmouse Aug 19th, 03, 11:45 AM Built in Kansas and sold in Canada??? That would be my guess. Isn't it true that GM of Canada can provide the information shown on "option sheet" if the car was either built or sold in Canada?? That would 'splain it.

70ssl78 Aug 19th, 03, 2:08 PM As I stated earlier, according to the GM of Canada documentation, the car was sold at: Holiday Chevy Olds Ltd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. The car was built in Kansas City and sold in the Canadian dealership above.
Thanks,
Al Barlow
