I have a problem with loose steering on my 70 that looks like a problem with the tie rods or the center link. I have already worked on the steering box and checked the tie rod torque. I'm thinking that I will buy the parts before tearing into the car. What have others found that needs replaced?

I know you already said you worked on the steering box, but I too had loose steering, and tried to adjust the box... I even thought the tilt column was loose. Finally, I went to a new box, and the difference is huge...really tighten it up...

As for the linkage, I have had several Chevelles that had worn centerlinks, seems to be a common problem...

Be sure to have the weight off the suspension when you adjust the steering box.

I would replace the center link and the idler arm. My 69 likes to wander around the road a bit because the center link is wiped out. I have it, but I am yet to put it on.
