Besides the hood, what is the difference between a 69 chevelle ss front clip and one that is not a ss of the same year.

Physicaly the only difference is the SS hood and emblems. As far as the paint goes, I'm not sure.

Factory original fenders are slightly different for SS emblem holes, and Malibu bottom trim. I'm not for sure if the factory had separate fenders ... or punched the holes in-line with the assembly though?

All NOS and aftermarket are void of these holes, and are expected to be drilled.

Front core supports are different to some degree. All A/C and/or BBC cars received a "4-bolt" wider opening core support. All non-A/C SBC (and 6-cyl) received a narrower "3-bolt" core support.

SS396 grills are different than Malibu grills ... along with all side markers etc. The front parking lights are also different.

There are a lot of similarities to make a Malibu look like an SS396 ... but the small details make it pretty hard to fake one.
