i am in the process of a frame off resto and i have gotten up to the point where the car is now painted but still gutter inside
i was in the process of installing the new door handels but i ran in to a few problems

1. the paint gaskets do not match the area are they just bigger so you can trim them down for a perfect fit
2.the rod on the handel that pushes againts the part in the door to open it ... well it seems the rod is too big because i cannot get it all they way on
will this change once i start tightening the screws for it

Tomm

I had to cut my rods a little so they would work correctly. If you need to cut yours, be carefull not to take too much off of the rod. If you make them too short you will need to push the thumb button in too far to get the Latch to disengage, (door to open).

As far as the rubber paint gaskets, I know I didn't need to cut them to fit.

Depends on wat gasket set you got,,, the real thin japan crap dont fit to good and yes they need to be trimmed,, and most of the door handle kits come with 2 sets of rods a long and a short,,, all the stuff your gunna find assembling the car if its repop stuff,, isnt gunna be a instant bolt on,, alotta remaking of parts is on the menue,,, be patient,,, you'll get there,, graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I put some repops on my 66 also.they had a longer rod so I held them up against my old ones and marked it and just cut them off, work just fine now. ;) the gaskets I used seem to fit fine, they are suppose to stik out a little...
