Does anyone have the measurements for the stripes on a 1970 SS?? I'm looking to paint the stripes back on my Chevelle and I need to know the line width and spacing for the stripes and the block areas of the hood and trunk. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ED.

From some other posts, the measurments are in the factory assembly manual, but i haven't seen anyone post them up. Easiest thing to do is buy a stencil kit, makes life much easier, i just did one 2 weeks ago. Keep in mind there are two different size stripes, early/late version for a 70.

Hello Ed,
Take a peek at the Chevelle Restoration Guide (I bought it at Barnes and Noble (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=55QS2RV0SM&isbn=0879385693&itm=2)
It contains part numbers, information on various options and the stripes. I have found some discrepancies in the book but it is very helpful overall.
It contains the strip measurements for both the early cars, and the late cars. I believe the stripes were widened after April 1970.
I will look in the book later today and post what it says.
Have a great day, Joe
According to the Restoration Guide, the stripes were narrowed after April 1970. I thought the stripes were widened. This may be one of the discrepancies in the book. Not sure.
