: vent window adjustment

i had to remove the vent window to fix a few things, now im putting it back in.
ive adjusted doors, and fenders, and hoods, and windows, but ive never adjusted the vent window.
on my 66, theres an adjustment screw on the very front of the door, that slams into the cowl (right above the hinges).
(the type that screws in and out, moving the frame of the vent window, and has a jam/locking nut on the outside.)
i cant understand what this screw manipulates on the vent window.
can someone give me an idea?
thanks alot.

I'm thinking that screw may be moving the vent window assembly as a whole, as a means of adjusting the track for the main door window. If I'm recalling correctly, on my 64, the front vertical channel for the window was part of the vent window assembly. If this is what it is, this adjustment could be used to take slop out of the drivers window.

Just my best guess...

that was my guess too.
i havent screwed with it yet, its been too cold.
at first i thought it was used to change the slope of the whole assembly, leaning it forward or back more.
thanks for the reply, Jack.
anyone else got an idea?

Lucas,
Your right in assuming it's for adjustment, but it's only one of the 3 or 4 adjustments used to set the vent window frame in the door shell so that it fits the car correctly. The one your looking at pulls the vent window assembly to the front of the door. All you can adjust on the vent window is the tension of the swing when you open or close it by tightening the nut directly below the lower swivel point.
If you need to adjust the vent window frame, look around at how it's attached to the door. The screws have a screw driver slot in the end of them. back off the lock nut on the outside and screw the threaded adjustments in and out till your happy with the fit and then sinch down on the lock nuts.
See if you can tell on the threads where they were postioned before and try/start from there. Good luck
