Can someone tell me the proper gap dimension between the door and the rocker panel?

Other than the common sense method, if you wish to be precise(anal?), you will need to find a chassis/body service manual for your car. That's the only source I know that lists recommended gaps. Even then, it lists a +/- tolerance.

Make it easy on yourself and shoot for 1/4" between the door and rocker adjusting as necessary to match the other body lines.

The assembly manual will identify this gap as well as others. If you have one, locate it in the sheet metal alignment section. If I knew what car you own, I could provide the information. Mine is for a 1970 Chevelle.

gsenical,

haven't checked back here in a while. I'll see what I can find. Typically distance is 1/16" - 1/8".

1/16 to 1/8 is too tight, generally 3/16 is the accepted gap.

Your correct ToocoolZ28. 1/16 IS too tight a gap. 3/16ths sounds much better. I still haven't looked at the assy manual yet.
