I've been thinking about removing my Elky's body and using a rotisserie to do my underbody resto. Any advice on how this thing should be braced before removing the body from the frame? It looks like the back half would be a little weak when supporting its own weight. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif Any advice would be appreciated.

There is nothing to be concerned about. As long as you don't cut the roof off, the body is VERY rigid. Floor crossmembers can be removed, even can replace sections of cab floor if careful. Have Fun. Karl

Thanks for the advice, guys. I watched a "Two Guys Garage" segment where they had a late model Elky on the rotisserie and had used square tubing to bolt the body up to keep it rigid. Did not know if there was a reason for this - other than maybe overkill. Mine has some rust in the lower front quarters, too, so that had me running scared. Thanks again for the advice! I love this page!!

My .02 worth
I would do panel replacement while body still on frame where possible, I just put my 66 on the rotator on SAT after panel replacement done, body man had all seams lined up perfect, with no trunk lid and doors with no latches installed no change in seams at doors !! after we took body off frame and put on rotator with no bracing .... if a convertable I would brace.
