: 1968 and later wide SS stripes on a 1967. Anyone seen this?
67_LS1 Jan 10th, 02, 7:03 AM I'm about to have my 1967 Chevelle (SS clone) convertible painted. I'm considering having the wide hood and trunk strips from the 68-72 added to my car. Has anyone seen this on a 1967? Know where I might be able to get a picture? I would sure like to see what it might lok like before having it done. I'm particularly interested in the ends of the strips. Should they go over both edges of the hood and trunk, or stop a little short with rounded corners? I've seen it both ways on later Chevelle's and Camaro's. My car will be White with a Bright Blue interior so the strips would be Bright Blue also.

klassickruiser Jan 10th, 02, 9:38 AM I have seen it and It looks great!!! I also have a 67 Clone and am going to have it done. My exterior is Bright Yellow and I'm going to paint silver Stripes. I prefer the style that stops short, and are rounded. I dont have any pictures, but I have a friend that works at a decal shop and is able to produce a picture with stripes. If you want e-mail me a picture of your car Front and Rear and a color of stripe and I'll have him produce a picture with the stipes. e-mail klassickruiser@yahoo.com
Jimmy P Jan 10th, 02, 9:47 AM Mystery got shivers down his spine and I just regurgitated through my nose! You probably haven't seen it done for a good reason. It would be like Abraham Lincoln wearing a baseball hat on backwards smoking a cigerette or like Chuck Hansen wearing a suit & tie during every segment of every show on Hot Rod TV! Some things just don't look right and big wide stripes on a 64-67 Chevlle is one of them.
67_LS1 Jan 10th, 02, 10:11 AM Klassickruiser, Thanks for the offer. My car is currently faded light Blue, so it may look funny with shiny new strips added in a picture, but this would be great. I'll take some digital photos tonight and send them tomorrow morning. It would be great to see what they look like before adding them in the paint booth.
66 Mystery Chevelle and Jimmy P, Am I to understand from your replys that you don't know of anyone that has done it and you don't have any pictures or help to offer??
66, I looked at the link to your car. Great looking car! Not my cup of tea, but really nice.
As you can see in my profile, my car is so far from stock that the addition of non-stock strips shouldn't send any MORE shivers or make anyone regurgitate MORE then the mods already done. Not all cars are stock.

RickS Jan 10th, 02, 10:36 AM Not something I thought I would have liked but I saw a yellow one with black stripes and it looked really good. I don't remember how/where the stripes ended.

66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Jan 10th, 02, 10:43 AM Dennis, no need to get your shorts in a bind http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif.....it sounded like you were not sure about how it might look...I have and continue to Help hundreds here. Jimmy and I just voiced some opinions on how it might look. Yes, I have seen it on some cars before, and I do not think it is appealing, but that's just to my eye. That's not because I do not appreciate a nicely done Modified car or that I think all cars need to be STOCK...I love a nicely done Modified 67 ( Dale has a fine example). Stripes on a 67 might be okay, but the wide ones that you are refering to just might not be the best way to go IMO. Again, just opinion but in re reading your post, I can see that you were not really looking for that, sorry..... I am glad that you are able to show the same appreciation back to me, you like the car even though not your cup of tea...thanks http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif It's all about personal taste. Again, I do not believe Jimmy and I were meaning to do anything but have a little fun. Good luck.
Mike
67_LS1 Jan 10th, 02, 12:23 PM 66, No offense taken, and my response was truely offered in the same vain. Just poking fun.

Jimmy P Jan 10th, 02, 9:00 PM Ditto what Mystery said. Just some http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif!! Click on my link below and you'll see what flavor I have towards paint schemes on Chevelles.
Although, anything done well can be nice. The thought just immediatley created images in my mind of a 17 year old kid spraying some stripes with rattle cans over a $98 Maaco job on such a beautiful car as the 1967 Chevelle. So you wanted to ask some Chevelle guys what it would look like. You asked, we told. Good luck and make sure to post pictures when you're done.
