Hey everyone. As some of you may know, I had been searching for car for quite some time now.

Well I finally found the best one I could afford and bought it. http://www.2k911.com/car/chevelle/

Anyhow, I love this car, but it needs a few things. For instance, hardly any air comes from the A/C vents, it all blows into the floor. It's been mentioned that it could be a vacuum leak. Back windshield leaks. The sucker gets hot FAST. I need an alarm, few little rust spots, fuel gauge isn't working, missing cigarette lighter..

When I bought the car, he gave me some parts and a few catalogs, but no books pertaining to maintanance, shop books, nuttin...

Before I get into these little things, it would seem to have a few good books to familiarize me with the car, it's care, keeping it up and so forth and so on..

Can anyone recommend some books that I should get my hands on regarding this car. It's obviuosly a 70 Chevelle with a 454.

FUn fun ride and a big attention getter I've noticed. But as a first timer that's younger than the car and a complete newbie to this whole thing...I need some reading!

I think for 10$ you can get a hayes manuel at any discount auto or autozone and there good enough for all the work ive done to mine, all except the mods.

All you can afford! Keep saveing your money and when I win the Lotto I will buy it from you and you can buy something nice. To me a 70 SS454 with black band-aids is all I would want if I could afford more.

Ill tell ya what...I really didn't want to spen that much, but when I found this car, I KNEW I was in trouble. I paid some cash and financed the rest through JJ Best (who was awesome btw!!!)
and the rest...is history (in the making)

Btw, this car is a clone...but a dam nice one if you ask me!

Nice car!! - but you might want to put the correct clear parking lenses on so it doesn't look like an SS clone, as that was the first thing I noticed. Everything else I could tell looked in order.

There's lots of books out there, but I don't think any will tell you what to expect better than this site will - just spend some time here regularly reading "Most Active Topics" and it will give you a very, very good idea of what you'll need to do eventually.

Start with the important stuff, like the brakes (I'd recommend changing the fluid completely), and work your way around the car from there.

Congrats on getting a nice car. I would also get an assembly manual. You can get that on ebay by searching on 1970 chevelle. The other thing you need to get are some catalogs. Get one from Original Parts Group (http://www.opgi.com/virtual2f.asp), Year One (http://www.yearone.com/), Ground Up Restoration (http://www.ss396.com/), and National Parts Depot (http://www.npdlink.com/) . That will keep you busy!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
