Hey guys I have a 70 2 door hardtop and my left quarter was hit at one time and a local bone yard has a 71 4 door with a good quarter. All I need is the skin from the rear wheel opening to the bumper. Will the 4 door skin work? TIA

my best guess is yes. but you should be sure before you go thru too much effort. you might want to post this in the wagon and 4 door section. graemlins/beers.gif

Yes it will fit. I wouldn't do it. Too much filler work.

I have done it before, yes it will work. Whether it is the right thing to do for you and your car is up to you.

Pros
1. An original part is better than repro.
2. You only have half the fit problems being you are not going up to the door. This would be an issue if using a repro quarter.
3. It's cheaper?

Cons
1. You have to weld out in the middle of a panel, never a good thing.
2. You are using a USED quarter. That means you have to remove it off the donor car without damaging it, and remove the old quarter off your car without damaging the body, in other words it is twice the work.
3. Repeat number two. smile.gif You are using a USED quarter. That means you have to remove it off the donor car without damaging it, and remove the old quarter off your car without damaging the body, in other words it is twice the work.

Thanks guys for the imput. I know its going to be one heck of a job, but I'm up to it. I put a compete roof on the car 4 years ago the first time I had it painted and I have done quite a bit of metal work and welding. I know the man who owns the junk yard and he is charging me $35 for the whole panel cut through the trunk, roof and through the door frame. The quarter on my car has/had more than an inch worth of mud in it and had just been beat out with a hammer from the trunk, very shady work. I have a really good body man that is going to give us a hand and he has done this job a lot of times. He just did this on a 65 El Camino and it turned out great, so its in good hands

Wow $35!!! That wouldn't even pay for his labor cutting the section. He must be a good friend. graemlins/thumbsup.gif If he has a right side quarter for a 68-72 Nova 2 door I'd be interested if priced comparable to aftermarket. I picked up a NOS quarter for the left side of my Son's Nova and have been looking for a right without much luck. Struggling with a tiawan half quarter will be the last option. Bob
