Need suggestions on how to get the passenger side of the front bench seat to lock on my 1966 Chevelle SS. I push the lever on my side and the seat moves and locks but the passenger side doesn't lock. From underneath looks like the cable is to tight which prevents the locking mechanism from sitting in the seat frame. Should I disconnect the cable?

Check to see if the cable is hung up on something under the seat. Disconnecting it is easy to do, but unless you never plan on adjusting the seat again, it's a pain...

What usually happens is the locking mechanism seizes from lack of lubricant. The best fix is to remove the seat and see what's actually happening. Clean all of the old grease out of the tracks and release mechanism and relube with white grease or Lubriplate. Should cure your problem. If you attempt to force the mechanism, the cable will break. Also , be sure that the center of the cable is being supported by a hog ring, or that the cable hasn't stretched preventing it from fully actuating the passenger side mechanism.
