I have the correct BB z-bar & clutch adjustment rod, fork, etc. but the adjustment rod is too short for adjusting. The ball stud is screwed on at the oil filter boss where I believe it's supposed to be & I notice that a small block
adjusting rod is longer & will make it work.
So what is my problem? Rain Man graemlins/angry.gif

64-67 Chevelles (283/327/396) all take the same rod (3840843). Other models (Camaro, Nova, Pass) take different rods in some cases. It's not a small block vs. big block thing but a Chevelle vs. "other models" thing. GM parts book shows 3840843 to be 4 3/4" long. Did you get the setup yourself from a donor car or is a swap meet/aftermarket purchase item? Swap meets tend to lump years together just to get rid of something and aftermarkets tend to do the same because sometimes there just isn't a market for a one or two year only item.

Do you have a stock clutch and bellhousing?
Someone recently had this trouble in the perfomance forum.
Performance thread (http://www.chevelles.com/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=015720#000000)
Just use a long bolt in place of the adjuster.

The ball on my 4spd ss is screwed on the bell housing just like it is on my 3spd on the column malibu. Know the malibu is the way it came. This always made me wonder why there were different z bars if both piviot on bellhousings which are interchangeable (with changing pressure plate, clutch and flywheel).

Ray, It is possable that you have the wrong clutch fork. I went through the same thing with my car. The clutch fork that is sold by most aftermarket vendors will work on everything BUT our cars. Ill send you a pic of mine along with those pics that I will get to sending you of the spring bracket.
