72SS454Chevelle Jul 5th, 03, 8:57 PM Man you didn't mess around with the white did you? :D I love the way it looks great job!
robando Jul 7th, 03, 7:31 PM That's one of the sweetest interiors I've ever seen in a chevelle. I'm jealous. You mind if I ask you how much the paint job cost?

d1_bradley Jul 7th, 03, 8:29 PM Nice job, really like the 'updated' interior/dash.
camnick Jul 7th, 03, 8:55 PM Everybody, Thanks for the compliments. Robando, the paint job cost me a little more than what I wanted to spend. It cost me $4400, but the Paint shop owner said he will not do another for under $8000. He went well beyond what I expected. This is by far the best paint job i've ever got.
The picture of the interior is kind of deceiving. It is a Sandalwood interior, the picture looks like its white.
Boy am I glad I'm done :D , now I just need to work some overtime to pay off the bills I racked up finishing it. It won't seem so bad since I'll be driving it while paying for it.

67Chevelleguy Jul 7th, 03, 9:16 PM I would sacrifice my left nut for that 71! NICE!! Becarful at car shows, people get jelious and key your car. My Neighbor finished her 68 SS, paint and all and took it to a nearby car show. She went to go buy a hamburger and when she got back, somebody took a key from taillight to headlight. Two days after paint! BE CAREFUL PAL!

RAMBO Jul 7th, 03, 11:24 PM Details about that dashboard???!!!!
Looks awesome! Did you fabricate that from plastic or metal? Is the guage insert separate from the rest of the dash?
Beautiful car!
Did you use lowering springs on the front, or are those stock height?
camnick Jul 8th, 03, 12:10 AM AHSOM70,
I fabricated the insert out of metal. On my website I have a couple of pictures and a short desciption. http://camnick.home.att.net/dash.htm .
That insert is bolted on and the screw heads have been covered with putty. I just wanted something a little different. It took a little longer than I expected to make.
The car has got Hotchkis springs on all four corners. I believe they are 1" lower. They are on the edge of being too low, but I like the look.
I took a look at your El Camino on your website. EXREMELY NICE! The stance on it is perfect.

Jeffry72 Jul 9th, 03, 2:46 PM Whats the name of that red? Car looks great, can't imagine you still have a couple of things left to do.
Professor_SS Jul 9th, 03, 5:22 PM SSSWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTT TTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 72 and a 70. After I get the 70 done, I want a 71 vert..... graemlins/hurray.gif
camnick Jul 9th, 03, 8:07 PM Jeffry72, The color is GM Torch Red. I went about picking the paint a little backwards. I had some stuff powdercoated red in the engine compartment and then tried to match it. It so happened that an employee at the body shop had a S10 pickup that matched perfectly. Pretty lucky.
The last loose end is getting fixed today. The upholstery shop is covering the trunk. Tommorow its off to Super Chevy to get registered. I don't think I could cut it any closer.
By the way i've been to your website a couple of times. The color of paint on your '70 is incredible graemlins/thumbsup.gif .

Aaron Thomas Jul 10th, 03, 4:58 AM That dash is awesome! I've been toying with ideas on my 71's dash, I dont like the long sweep of the speedo on the malibu dash. Car looks superb!

Very nice looking machine!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
camnick Jul 11th, 03, 11:44 PM gasoline_fiend, the fuse block is under the box. I smoothed the firewall and the new fuseblock was too large to put anywhere else.

And if you think it looks sweet in the pictures, you should see it in person. I saw it yest and it's a knockout. One of the nicest I've ever seen. Has to be a contender for Best Chevelle at Super Chevy Indy. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
ss_72man Jul 13th, 03, 4:05 PM Absolutely gorgeous! Great work all around , but I really like that dash.
Update. He won an Editor's Choice Top 10 Show Car trophy Sat and won his class Sunday at Super Chevy Indy. Congratulations Clarence. Well deserved.
