I recently got a pair of GM aluminum brake drums at a swap meet. They seem to be factory stuff. Anyone know what they came on? I'm putting them on my 68 chevelle.

They came on G bodies as well as some late model B bodies. You will have to ream them out so that they will fit over the axle flanges. I have a set on an 86 Caprice that I will be taking them off and putting them on my 70 :D .

What's the advantage of aluminum drums? Lighter weight/better heat disippation?

The only major advantage would be weight. They're light enough that you could use them for a frisbee. As far as heat dissipation, I don't know. I guess they probably would get rid of heat better than cast iron.
