Hey There,

I'm looking to put dual exhaust on my '66, which runs a stock 327/275 HP, 4 brl Carter. I want the increased performance, plus the great sound/look. Can anyone offer some suggestions for a nice system? I've looked in the archives and seen a lot of positives on the flowmaster. Can someone also point me to a diagram of a stock '66 dual exhaust, as I'd like the pipes to end in the right place.

Thanks Much,

Ted

Get yourself a 66 Assemby Manual, you will never regret the $19 you spend on that book. It will have what you need diagram wise. Two different exits were possible on the dual exhaust for 66..behind rear tire and straight out the back...generally speaking that is...It is actually much more exact than that.

On my last 66, the Marina Blue 66 SS, I used Dynomax Mufflers, not sure if they are still available, I just know, everyone, including myself...loved the sound!!

Lot's of different opinions on this. I was at a car show Saturday when a 55 Chevy started up and moved a block or so to another parking place. I thought it sounded very good, better than anything I'd heard lately. Talked to the owner and he was running a mostly stock 327 though glasspacs. They were 30+ inches long and he said he didn't know the brand....generic muffler shop I guess. Anyway, for me the sound of glasspacs is preferred to any "turbo" type mufflers. Flowmasters are to me too loud, (the 40's anyway), and have a hollow sound......but, lots of folks love them and they sell zillions of um. I put generic turbos on my 69 350 a couple of years ago but I've never really liked them. When I can spare the bucks I'll be getting glasspacs. smile.gif
