I have been calling some insurance companies as I have been taking my Chevelle on the road for some troubleshooting trips. I am being told that I can get whatever stated value I want but that I will need to substantiate the value with pictures and possibly an apprasial. My question is how others have done this when the finished car will be worth more than it is in pieces. Although to me it's still worth the same value even though the interior is out of the car.

I added my 69 to the policy I already had with Hagerty when I sent my 69 out to the body shop. I gave them a value of $9000 and they added it no problem, just had to send them currect photos then photos when it was finished. I wanted it insured before it went out just in case something were to happened. I actually have to call Hagerty this week to see about getting the value on my 70 jacked up since I got it appraised and I have it almost $10,000 underinsured  .

Tom you raise a good point, for the moment the cars are increasing in value. This may cause many of our members to be underinsured. You mentioned that you had an appraisal done. How did you decide who would do it and if you don't mind saying, what did it cost?
