Well I just got my reproduction molding on around the rear window of my 70 Chevelle (no molding when I purchased the car). Now I have a problem ... there is a gap on both sides between the molding and the body, looks like someone tried to work the metal and took too much off.

Is there any molding out there that would fit the 70 rear window but it alittle wider so it might cover the gaps? Down the road I will have to address the real problem but I'm not there yet.

Thoughts?

it is probably just the quality/complete lack there of, of the molding. I purchased a set of re-popped rear window moldings for my 72 from one the often mentioned vendors when I was in the parts gathering phase of my rectification. Like a moron I didn't compare it to the window or the originals at the time. So a year later when I was ready to install it I found that it isn't even close to the original. In fact it is so far off that it could not be used at all. I ended up re-using the dinged up originals, and since the re pops were over a year old they wouldn't take them back. They are not even close, but if you want to buy them I'll give you one hell of a deal on them. :D

Anyone else? What is the width of the original rear window trim for the 70 Chevelle? Is there other trim out there that is wider but will still work? Thanks!
