I am working on the new 69ss I just got and while Im waiting on a few parts I want to tak my console out and try to make it look new again, and I want to do the same with the dash. What is the best stuff to use and does anyone have any tips for me.It has sat in a barn since 1981 and the console and dash has a white looking film on it I havent yet got to start on it so I dont know how hard it will be to come off or if it will come off.And the metal cover is real dirty too, could I use a metal polish for it or what? Also I am looking fo a set of exhaust manifolds for it,someone put big tube headers on it and the manifolds are long gone and since it is a matching#'s car I want to get a set with the right #'s.Thanks for any help.

Nate,

I'm not sure what most guys here prefer, but here's what I did on my 70 console and dash. After I scrubbed the heck out of them with soap and water, I used SEM's plastic prep followed by SEM vinyl dye (Landau Black). You want to be sure to follow the directions on the plastic prep, and use light coats of dye. It came out looking great! I'm not sure how it will hold up to "wear and tear", but heck, she's babied anyway.

Cant help you out on the aluminum inserts since I replaced all of mine. Good luck!

If it doesn't need to be painted, I use Turtle wax leather cleaner and conditioner.
