i recently painted my dash and got way too much paint on my VIN. almost to the point that i can't read it. what would be the best way to clear out some of the extra paint without ruining the rest of the paint job?

Q-tips and Paint thinner/mineral spirits??? or a light sand paper over the tops of the VIN number to make em stick out? Trusty pocket knife? something small to scrape over the numbers possibly..

If none of the above work, I think I would mask off the area outside the tag and take a dremel tool with some kind of buffing bit to it.

i'll give those a shot. but maybe i'll just not worry about it. as long as the people at the dmv don't care when i go to register it then why bother. anybody know if they care?

I know my VIN plate is covered in black paint and haven't had a problem DMV/police during stops.. But I think it might look cool with the raised letters cleaned/scraped off http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
