Hood pin cable mounting location for a 70 chevelle SS?? I was looking around in here doing a search
on this topic, and may have found my answer but want to be sure, this was the topic i found:
http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum30/HTML/000046.html

In the topic rick nelson directed hoffbug to Mr.70's site: http://community-2.webtv.net/rap3/1970ChevelleL78/ so if Mr.70 or anyone else can answer this. Is this the correct spot for mounting the hood pin cable? I'm thinkin it is becase Mr.70's car looks factory.

But?? were these a dealer installed item?? Or a factory installed item? And did they put them where they wanted to,or is there something that they went by like a diagram to determine the exact hole location.

And how critical do i have to be?? I was just going to unbolt that bolt shown in the original topic on the radiator support and put them there and be done with it. But i thought i should get on here and find out for sure to be correct.

-Also- I was wondering about the little white clip holing the cable, do i have to get these through a place like Year one or Paddock, or can i get them at the local hardware store? This is last step in the hood pin ordeal the pins are mounted and the chrome plates are on the hood. Thanks all.

I had wondered if the pin should be straight or like the Original sales sheet on an angle. After seeing the angled way in picture in my OEM glossy brochure, I turned mine about 10deg.

PAUL: I'm not sure about the pins being turned or not i'm only worried about the correct location for fastening the end of the cable under the hood. Weather the pins should be turned 10 deg.or not i'll worry about that later like when i see an all original chevelle with them like that.

I asked this same question about a year ago.
I wanted to put hood locking pins as well.

I've recived an E-Mail from a TCer (Forgot his name on the board, but his real name is Dwayne) with detailed photos. I am sure he wouldn't mind if i share those pictures with you.

This is what he said, so i'll know what is where:
"It may be hard to determine which way you are looking
at them but, to help, the bronze color is the fenders,
the grey color is the fender extension/headlight bezel
and the blue is the hood."

Here are the pics he sent me:

Hope this helps.

Hi Chris
Yes you can get these white cable tabs from any reproduction retailer.YearOne,NPD etc. Some even offer them in a Tan color also.
I have seen many bizarre places for these cable tabs to be drilled by their owners during resto...You can do whatever you like, but I would not bolt them under that black bolt in my picture.

For my Chevelle, the working Cowl induction Hood received these hood pins as part of this hood,RPO ZL-2.
But you could buy anything you wanted over the parts counter too.
The Standard SS bulge hood did not get pins in 1970.

My measurements for these white tabs are:
2&1/4" from the center of the black bolt inwards in the picture. Then measure 5/8"from the back of the panel to the center of the hole for the white tab mounting location.
Hope I've answered your questions.
