Does anyone have any good ideas for repairing the brace on the fender bottoms?i used the lower patch panels a few times with not so great results.my brace is rotted and theres nothing to weld the bottom of the fender to.has anybody found anything to replace the brace with,i was thinking maybe using a piece of floor support or the bracing from under an old hood.

Seems to me Year One sells the part.

You are right. I just thumbed through Year One's catalog and it wasn't there. I could have sworn that I saw one somewhere.....

i thought i remembered one somewhere also but i dont knowwhere.does anybody make one.this is such a common problem on these cars i cant believe noone has made it or even a better quality lower patch panel.i put a lower on my camaro and the panel was excellent,and the repair looks great.cant say that about the chevelle panels.

I had both lower sections done on my 70 Chevelle. I also had one inner brace almost cmpletely gone down by the fender. My body guy fabed a piece and but welded it into the brace. Looked great. Actually, now you can not tell either fender was ever repaired (inside or out). No paint yet.

It did run me $150 each, and I supplied the outer patches. He even finished it, and metal-etche/epoxy primered.

You can buy a repair piece for the brace for 68/69 Chevelles (should also fit 68 to 72 Caminos) from Year One but I have not seen them for the 70 to 72 Chevelle. Don't know if the 68/69 one could be modified to work or not.
