Thanks Al. Hope this helps the folks that are trying to find out what is correct for their vehicles:0

I have a 69 396/325hp El camino. I asked this last week but still don't know how the vapor line connects to the line to the fuel tank. I'm going to replace the existing setup with the 3 piece fuel line and filter at the front of the engine. Right now I have 1 fuel line from tank to fuel pump
1 vapor line from tank to fuel pump
1 fuel line to carb
Do I need a different fuel pump and join the vapor lines together?
Can't find this in the archives or the assembly manual. Please help.

Dwight, I have an L89 so I can't really give you first hand experience. However, I will try and explain the setup according to the 69 Chevelle Assembly Manual, I assume it would be the same for an El Camino.

One fuel line from the tank to the pump. Then one line from the pump to the filter. From the filter you have the main line to the carb, but you also have a "fuel return line" back to the pump. Does not appear the return line goes all the way back to the tank, but ends at the pump.

On the pump it appears the line to the filter is a "female" connection on the pump, while the return line is a "male" connection on the pump.

With any luck an Elky owner can jump in here to be more definitive.

Hopefully the explaination makes sense and is some help.

Dwight, sorry i didnt reply to your post on this topic over in the engine/drivetrain section... i was in the hospital for 3 days with kidney stones (sucked!) I will check tomorrow and let you know what lines and how many are going into my fuel pump. I am NEARLY positive its a standard big block pump, with only one inlet and one outlet, but i'll doublecheck. While I have you, i read that your truck has a vinyl top... are your moldings one piece or 2 on each side? Mine has what seems to be oddball 2 piece moldings and i'm wondering if anyone else has these.

Thanks Don for the reply. I have the assembly manual but the part that shows the pump is faded.
Joey sorry about the stones. Been there and its not fun. Just trying to get this right.
Which moldings are you asking about. This truck was partially disassembled when I got it. So you can only guess what I am doing trying to find the right pieces and parts.I do have the bed moldings and rear window moldings.
