The only ones I have heard of painted were dealer installations. However last summer I had an oppurtunity to look over an very original 69 Chevelle SS. The fact of the matter was that the original stripes on this very original 69 SS were all decal stripes. This particular SS was later purchased by Shannon Vanover TC. I'm sure he can verify this as well. Stencils and Stripes was the source I used for my resto stripes. Very high quality and perfect in every detail. They will have a "parchmented" finish (slightly dull grained) this finish is correct as they should not be a high gloss finish.
