I have had the front suspension out of my car for while and cant remember which way the front coil springs go. Its not in the assy. or service manual. Does the flat side go up or down? The car is a 66ss.
Thanks, Chris R.

Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but I don't think a '66 front spring has a flat end. Ends are identical and open. Spring goes in either way.
Beginning with '68, spring had a flat end which goes into the pocket in the frame.

Fred is correct. 64-67 A-bodies have open coils on both ends. However, this doesn't mean someone has installed later model springs in your car.

Tapered end up top, flat coil cut-off end botton. In my '70 there are two 1/8" holes in the lower A-arm pocket. make sure the end of the coil is in between them or your car wont sit level.

If you really want to make sure drive down to your local spring shop or muffler shop and show them your springs.
