: Would you buy this 66 SS

I saw a real nice 66 SS396 that has the factory red interior. It has a bench seat with 4 speed.
I am not crazy about red, but understand that the interior colors back then matched the the exterior.
The interior is immaculate but as mentioned, everything is red, dash, carpet, seats, steering wheel.
I love the car though,
So, if you were me, would you let the color of the inside and the fact that it has a bench seat, stop you from buying it ?
Thanks

If you were me? You mean, if it were you?

It's a personal taste thing, interiors are very easy and relatively cheap to change.

If you like it buy it, if you don't. pass.

I know if I were Mike Crown I'd spend the whole day admiring myself in the mirror.

What it comes down to is, can you picture yourself with these features and being happy, and proud.

"Buyers Remorse" will settle in quickly if you arent thrilled with your choice.

If I were me, wich I am, and the car were in my range, I'd buy it. If I were you, then maybe you would be me, but maybe you wouldnt, maybe youd be someone else

If the car is in good shape body wise, floor and trunk pans, rear glass channel then a bench seat and red interior would not stop me from buying it but then I am very partial to 66 Chevelles, SS and non SS cars alike. You only have to satisfy yourself unless you have a wife of course.
Buy it, wish I could collect them but it's a thing called money that is holding me back.
Good luck,

Give me a break Jesse....hell, you have only bought thet one Original 66 and that was back in 1966...open that wallet and let it breathe abit! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Seriously, Jesse makes good points, all of which need to be considered. I was not really helpful in my response, sorry. If I were you, and I liked this car, but the only thing wrong with it, was that I didn't like the interior schema, I would probably pass on it. I have been known to be a bit Partial to 66 SS cars too... and a Red with Red gut and Bench seat doesn't do it for me...had a chance two years ago to buy that same car, Fully restored and under market value...but passed for that same reason...Too much RED!!

BUT....real 138176 cars are hard to find, and even harder in the northeast.

Well guys, I happen to LOVE red on red, and I'm particularly lustful for a 66 which I've never owned, so if you decide to pass, how 'bout fowarding the info, 'cause if it's nice, I'm a prospect.

Hey Mike, Yeap I do seem to keep items near and dear to me for long periods of time, I did aquire my wife and my Chevelle within a year of each other, (65 and 66 respectively) now you know why I only have one Chevelle and a breathless wallet.
I hope the 66 pans out for the one of the guys that are interested. Sounds like a nice car.

I'd love to have one like that.

My dad had a few red on red Impalas and I liked 'em when I was a kid.

I went through the same questions when I first saw my current car, a red/red 70. At first I thought it was just TOO much red. But the more I thought about it the more I liked it. It's different....and we all know there are already enough red 70's around. At the ACES regional in KC last summer you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a red 70. But, there were only two with the red interior, (and 10 with black). Now, I love the fact that it has the red interior.

I bought my second 67 with the intentions of changing the interior to black and the exterior to Tahoe Turquoise, but... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
it's different.

I think BBD cleared up the problem admirably.
Now, I have to ask myself, am I Big Block Dave or someone else? I was sane before reading Dave's post, now I'm not sure who I am. If I am Big Block Dave, I think I like red on red and I'd use Dave's money to buy it!

I think it goes something like this:
"I am he as you are me as you are he and we are all together." Anyway, sometimes the colors grow on you as you get to know the car. It was a style thing back then. Hey at least it's not a pink cadillac....
