I posted this over in Body Shop on the 31st but did not get any real answers so trying again here. No need to bash a product, just let me know if you have found a good manufacturer. Thanks.

I was talking on the phone with a fellow today that I am going to send the hood louvers off my 69 to to be rechromed. He was asking if I knew of anyone that had a 67 big block hood for sale. I asked him why not go for an aftermarket hood, and he said they are junk. I told him that I had heard of guys here that had bought aftermarket hoods and there was obviously some to stay away from, and some that it seemed guys were really happy with. So folks, seeings how we can not use the search feature for a few more days, can anyone tell me who makes the best one? He was much more concerned with quality than he was about cost. Thanks guys!

Is he looking for steel or fiberglass? If the latter, Glasstek out of Naperville, IL (630-978-9897) makes some nice ones. Although I don't have one, I've seen two on '67's and talked to the owners. Both were quite pleased with the fit, no mods necessary. Glasstek sells stock, various cowl induction, bolt-on or pinned, and pro hoods. Even have the correct matching springs. Don't know if they sell steel. Might be worth a phone call.

I have a GlassTek hood in my 67 SS and recommend it to anyone - and have. Haven't heard anyone complain on their quality yet. Can't help on repo steel hoods though, never needed one.

My 67 had a repro SS hood on it when I bought it, so I don't know who the manufacturer is. It fits well and is good quality. It is, however, a little thinner than an original hood, but it doesn't seem to matter.
