I have a survivor 72 SS454 LS5. The only thing done to the car that I know of is an engine rebuild. My question is what should be the color of the cast iron intake manifold? Mine is painted silver but I think chevrolet orange is correct? Block, valve covers, and intake all the same color.

Am I right?

Yes you are, all orange.

If you're truly after dead originality for a survivor, the engine was painted with the exhaust manifolds and waterpump already installed. This means that not only were the manifolds painted orange also, which will burn off obviously (leaving traces in a few edges outside of the bolts for a long time) but also there were voids in the paint behind the manifolds and waterpump. I personally don't do a concourse car this way, but we took the first L88 Corvette ever to achieve the "Survivor" award to Bloomington (1990 if my memory is correct) and there was discussion of these void areas.
