Of course, since it looks easy I must be missing something.

Any tips/tricks I should be aware of? I will have to take out the axle, then the seal, and while I'm there lube and/or replace the bearing.

Minor leak, 12-bolt Posi, everything stock. Rear wheel cylinder is dry, it's coming from the axle.

There is at least one catch. If the axle is worn where it rides on the bearing, it will ruin the seal right away due to excessive play.

Open the differential, remove the c-clip holding the axle, pull the axle out. Now remove the seal. As rlchv70 said, check the axle carefully, the bearing rollers ride directly on the axle. If it is worn at all, get a "repair bearing" which relocates the rollers to the good part of the axle. This bearing also incorporates a seal.(Ask for it at a good auto parts place)
Mine were VERY tight - I bent the loaner slide hammer puller from Advance Auto getting them out, and the new ones went in TIGHT!
Next time I plan to heat the housing and freeze the bearing first.
I'd replace both bearings and seals while it was apart, but that's just me.

Make it the way you like it, forget what the other guys say!
